A company is only as good as the people working in it. When employees fall sick, companies quite often provide for them to get checkups and investigations done at a hospital. Visits to outside hospitals can mean loss of at least half a day in waiting, consultation, and investigations. When taken into consideration for hundreds or thousands of employees, it adds up to a large amount. Also, visits to hospitals do not preclude employees from taking sick leaves and resulting loss of work hours. Even if sick employees do show up for work, there is the intangible yet unquestionable aspect of productivity loss due to illness.
